Heroes Among Us

Hills.jpg

I want to be the Change.

I want to inspire Change.

I want to see us Change.

I stay up at night vetting ideas about how I can make this world a better place. I get revved up about working for others and working alongside others, to improve the quality of life ...for OTHERS

There are so many opportunities for us to do better for ourselves, families and communities. We need to truly understand that at the end of the day we are all in this together.

I fantasize about a world in which we all care for and respect each other. A world in which:

  • The world's wealth isn't owned by 1%

  • The working class is a well paid class

  • The unemployed is not disheartened

It seems almost, that we are in the "every man for himself" phase.

My neighbourhood is safe, so I dont worry about a SOE. I see private Doctors, so I dont worry about a Public Nurse's salary.

My family is safe, so I don't worry about the ones found dead or reported missing

...I just don't know

I worry most about Jamaica when i'm away. It seems that when I board a plane it elevates my view on many things. The view is better from here. I can see the forest from the trees. I see how the other half lives. I see all that we deserve, but don't yet have. I see all the ways we can get it done with the little we have.

When we discuss heroes today, mentions are limited to Martin, Marcus, Malcolm and other leaders before my time.

Who are the heroes among us?

I feel like 30+ years is long enough to do something that counts.

I want to see us Change.

I want to Inspire Change.

I want to be the Change.

Be The Change with me.
